Mother Nature cut us a break again. While she taunted us with a few drops throughout the day, the rain really didn’t start until after the match was complete and the stages torn down. We began the day by remembering Fred and the great way that he introduced new shooters to our sport. Fred’s grandson, Bryce DeMers, told me that Fred would be especially pleased with the Junior Shooter Program that was established in his honor. Our inaugural member of the program, Brennan Richardson, managed to beat everyone except David Williams in the final standings. Youth and talent can be so frustrating for those of us who lack them!
Bryce also claimed the “Snubby” award for the fourth time in a row, despite strong competition from Jim Clark and Bill Smolinski. The stages were outstanding, and Jeff Turek insured that they remained challenging, but still 5-shot friendly. Match results are available at: https://practiscore.com/results/new/26953
This was our last regular USPSA match of the season. Our final Steel Challenge match will be next Sunday, October 16th with no trophies. The match fee will be $15.00.
